Good Day,

I will be go for a short off-road ride this Sunday, aiming for Julimar Forest and will make route up as I go. (+_130km one way) Nothing extreme, should be back after lunch time.
Looking at leaving from Catalano's around 9am. All welcome to join, bring water and wet gear.

Cheers

Howdy Jean800,

How did the Julimar Forest ride turn out? Which gazetted tracks did you traverse? Did you end up taking dry gear and getting it wet? And muddy after loosing bike in deep hole? Were you back before dark? Questions...

Good day,
Great ride and weather was perfect, no rain on dirt tracks. Only two riders, Neil on his 1200 GS ADV and myself on GS 800 ADV. Started from Catalano's @ 9:30am, back at home around 1:50pm. (Ellenbrook)

The wet made ride easy through the sandy/pea gravel. This track will be tricky at some sections with sand and loose gravel when dry. Look out for trail bikes and 4WD's.

I will update with video and GPX file soon. Track rating 2/5 - 1 easy / 5 technical. (note this depend on your riding skills (Mine is average)

Sounds like a great ride Jean - thanks for the pics. If you're looking for a bit more 2/5 off roading I am keen to do another run from Narrogin to Merredin off/dirt road. Tracks are easy to follow & good going until they get too wet. Might be a bit tricky after this week's rain.

Jeff, sounds like a plan. The aim is to track these rides, rate them and make the GPX files available for BMW club members.
This will give the club more options on off-road tracks on Sunday's.

Let me know when you keen to go, I will be there.

Cheers

Great stuff Jean, this is what the club needs to attract younger members with GS bikes that want to advance their skills. It’s always safer and informative for off-road riding if riders can have some idea what the tracks are like and they can get together with other club members to go on these rides. Rating the skill levels timings, meetup points and how long the ride will take make it easy for people to join in.
Well done

I have loved the challenges riding off road with club members offers. The opportunity to learn from the many club members with much skill and experience has been one of the things I have now looked forward to over several years. Getting out and being challenged, supported and being slightly politically incorrect without being a complete knob, or for that matter no one else being so either, is one of the great benefits of being in the Club. I still recall one of my first off road rides with the chaps, and i was so tense it was like I was welded on to the bike. The fellas gave me tips whilst I was riding during those times I was learning and getting off road. i gradually skilled up bit by bit. I also learned about some mechanical stuff which I knew nothing about before the club members taught me - i still can't say I will be any help in respect to anything mechanical - but I have heaps of fun watching and learning the theory anyway!

What else is truly wonderful is, for many years i really did not know what anyone does for work for the most part. This was and remains one of the great things about the club because its about the bikes and having those experiences we all love. When we are learning its great, when we are talking to those who are learning from us after we've learned it great too!

I am incredibly grateful to all in the club who've take the time to teach me all the things I have learned about riding, or the mechanics of the bikes. I have a long way to go and am enjoying each moment of it all. There are rides with more and less challenges and i choose the rides i feel like going on which could be considered rather selfish, but make no mistake, I am grateful for the opportunity.

Thanks to each of you for your organisation and participation.

Kots

Jeff, if you could organise another off road run down to Albany that would be brilliant. I loved the last one you organised. Great job.
