Apparently the forecast is a gap between showers between 8:30am and 2:00pm today. The Michelin’s need a run so 8:15am Shell Ascot and 9:00am Dome Mundaring. If it rains- c’est la vie.

As I sat in the sun at Mundaring Dome enjoying my coffee I pondered what woosers the rest of the Thursday Ride team were. But as soon as I left heading to Chidlow I realised how smart they were to service their car, stay in bed, watch Netflix or whatever as the temp descended to 11 degrees C and the rain set in. But after 10 minutes it stopped as I headed through Wooroloo and Wundowie onto Burma Rd and then Bailup Rd to hit Toodyay Rd. Fernie, Salt Valley, Sandplain, Folewood, River and Julimar Roads soon had me at the Toodyay Bakery.
The flashing sign outside the Coca Cola Cafe stating “ WHERE IS SWAMPY ?” caught my eye as I munched on a ham and salad roll outside the bakery in bright sunshine. No sooner than hitting the road again the heavens opened again, perhaps because I went to the Bakery and not the CC Cafe???
But again 10 minutes of rain was all as I had as I retraced my path but tried Hoddy Well Rd off Salt Valley to wind my way to Clackline. Minor showers were negotiated as I passed Bakers Hill. The flashing sign at the Bakery stating “WHERE IS BOZO?” caught my eye but I pressed on.
Coates Rd appeared a more serene alternative than the GEH, but at about Wooroloo the showers returned with 11degrees C again. I weakened and put on the hand and bum heaters Ahhh Bliss. It wasn’t till Helena Valley was reached that the temp increased and the rain stopped, with the road starting to dry.
So a 230km winter ride with rain, sun, cold weather, greening paddocks and streams starting to flow, better than sitting on the couch!

An Excellent report Peter, well detailed and interesting
So glad I stayed at home today in the warm but I did actually spare you a thought or two braving the cold and wet weather, but only briefly while having a quiet chuckle as the rain bucketed down and the temp. dropped while I sat in front of the heater
Glad to hear you managed to paddle home safe with heated seats and grips you Whooos !!
See you on Sunday.

Oh lucky you missed the hail this morning.
Good to see someone out on a fine winters day enjoying themselves.
