I believe the Company operate CRF 250’s and KLR 250’s. Bill (Burn) is acting as tag team because the Company is running two tours back to back on behalf of Perth Adventure Riders.

Nice one Steve. You may earn a bonus point if you serve the judges Bintangs on the Camp Cook Off

G’day Slackers,
Bali update. End of day one.
Nobody died today. Relatively seamless journey though fighting our way outta town was nerve racking. Once clear of town it was mainly village roads and back tracks.

Typical SEAsia...blocked village road while ol’ mate empties his load.

Morning tea...no rush. We are on holiday.

Local munchkin with fat cheeks.

Lots of steep ascents and descents. Here we are cooling the brakes after a couple of riders experienced ‘brake fade’. It happens when brake fluid boils and can no longer be compressed. Operator error (riding brakes instead of using ‘engine compression’ to slow down going down descents).

G’day Slackers,
Bali update - end of day two.
Again, nobody died today. Riding in Bali is like playing a video game...there is so much happening so quickly. You have to be watching left, right and centre the whole time. Trying to ride in a pack does not help. The idea is to try and keep sight of the guy in front even though we have a system in place to navigate. Already we are going over some roads twice. That is to be expected when on a relatively small island.

Twin Lakes.

We are over dressed by local standards. Body armour, knee pads, high boots, gloves, full face helmets. Even our tour guide had been more sensible then us. These are his ‘riding boots’. I did leave the enduro boots home and wear an old pair of GP boots from my Army days.

Lunch on the bank of Lake Batur...an extinct volcano. Notice the prop holding one of the shelters steady as the whole platform moves on the water.

One of the many sunrise viewing vantage points with Mount Agung shrouded in cloud in the distant background.

Same same.

G’day Slackers,
Bali Update - end of day 3.
Just like the instructions on the back of a shampoo bottle...rinse and repeat. We have been zig zagging over this island now for three days and it is just becoming a blur. Without a GPS you lose all sense of direction. We are on the east coast tonight and finish tomorrow (Thursday) at the point at which we started.
See captions below.

Pura Besakih is a temple (pura) complex in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung in eastern Bali. It is the most important, the largest and holiest temple of Hindu religion in Bali, and one of a series of Balinese temples. Perched nearly 1000 meters up the side of Gunung Agung, it is an extensive complex of 23 separate but related temples. The temple is built on six levels, terraced up the slope. The entrance is marked by a candi bentar (split gateway).

The north east coastline...black sand beaches from volcanic activity over millions of years. Must be good fishing!

Unusual late afternoon sun from Alur Beach with Mount Agung in the background.

G’day Slackers,
The tour has been completed with relative success. I have travelled extensively throughout Australia and wanted to try something a little different for a change. I’m not disappointed. Time to return to Oz and back to reality (whatever that is). See you on the other side.
See captions below.

Cheesy tourist hot spot with Mt Agung in the background as the backdrop at Pura Penataran. Pay a fee and have your photo taken.

Bamboo Forest at Penglipuran Village.
