Interlopers at the Coca Cola Cafe

Postby Bozo » Sun Jan 05, 2020 3:08 pm

A steady turn out at Catalano's with Ross reporting a successful ride with 11 participants to meet with the Geraldton mob on the Coorow-Leeman excursion, Swampy having a limp excuse for not riding, Jack selling his mono airhead, Bolton with his eastern states purchase, BJ and Noel on HP2's and Shock Jock Anthony and Count Griceness doing a dirt ride.

A dozen participated in the first Bozo ride of 2020 at various times with the group heading to Toodyay and going to the Coca Cola Café without their best customer, Swampy.

AAA Anthony, Kim + Andrea, Ted, Fiery Ross, David, GS Bill, GT Geoff, Nannup Nick, Peter and Bozo filtered their way through the cyclists in the Bickley Valley and past Mundaring Weir. Ted was running on one cylinder and headed home with Fiery Ross and Kim + Andrea leaving us at Mundaring only to have Alex Prankster join us with his rig. A pleasant run along West Talbot Road and Qualen West Road combined with a short trip through Cut Hill Road got us to a quiet York. The temperature was pleasant still being around 30 degrees. A run along Spencers Brook Road was given a bit of interest with around 500 metres of rutted gravel due to roadworks near the Spencers Brook Tavern. We took Trimmer Road to the Great Eastern Highway and got onto Eadine Road where it runs parallel to the highway to get to the Clackline Toodyay Road.

As expected the Toodyay Bakery was shut so we were forced to consume toasted cheese sandwiches at the Coca Cola Café being a little unsettled not having their best customer Swampy with us.

Peter led us home along River Road, Sandplain Road, Salt Valley Road and Fernie Road. At Gidgegannup the group split up.

Thanks to Peter for being both tail end Charlie and ride leader at different times. The hottest part of the ride was the 37 degrees after the descent down Greenmount with most being pretty good.

Hopefully Swampy will be back at the back soon.

Thanks Bozo for leading another varied ride with the less travelled Qualen West and Eadine Rds new roads to most of the team. The lunch at CCC was great with good food and scintillating chat, but Swampy’s attendance was missed. Hope his visit to the knee man will result in less pain in the future.
