Thursday Ride Feb 6 KELMSCOTT DOME

Post by pspencer »

Time to get back to Kelmscott Dome. So leaving Shell Ascot 7:15 to glide to Kelmscott Dome for an approx 8:45 departure. Perhaps Miami Bakehouse Falcon for lunch.
Low thirties forecast so get off the couch and give the Booomwerr an outing. But as usual it is DDD.

Hi Goldie and any other Southerners I was thinking down the SW Highway to Byford then through townships of Mundijong and Serpentine and back onto the SWH near Keysbrook down to the Caltex Servo in Nth Dandalup. Could meet there say 9:45 to 10:15 approx. But flexible to suit you. Let me know.

Thanks again Pete for another interesting ride today. After meeting Goldie for coffee at Mundijong cafe next to the Post Office, the main group arrived on time and after farewelling Brian and Noel we headed down Hall rd to Serpentine and much further south from there popped out onto South West hwy to Alcoa rd and then headed up North Spur rd riding through Dwellingup, down Nanga rd with a brief stop just before Waroona to pay homage to two club members that lost their lives there 19 years ago this February 11 th, Gunner and Rob.
Onwards through Waroona then west on Coronation rd, Dorsett rd and a scenic ride along the Estuary to finally stop for coffee and a pie at Miami Bake House. A former member from 1982, Roy Gillespie stopped to say hello and have a chat. He remembered Goldie and myself and quickly introduced himself to the other five members in the group. This is where the ride finished for Goldie and myself on a stunning 27 degree fine and sunny day. Thanks to Swampy for tail end Charlie duties, your a champion mate.

Thanks Peter for leading another good ride and also thanks also to Dave and Pete for the kind comments about TEC but you have to remember guys, if it wasn't for you and the rest of the crew that accompany us on Thursday rides I wouldn't have a job!!

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
