I'm up for a ride Ross.

I’m back from the Southern Lands and I’m interested in a Thursday Ride. Seeing the Sunday ride was around the North East, let’s make it Kelmscott Dome. Leaving Shell Ascot 7:15 to head to Kelmscott with 9:00 ish departure. If anybody has any better plans please shout out. DDD!

Don’t look for me something came up. Might duck out to Bindoon for smoko.

And what a team we had with Nick, Eddy, Nurzo, Ian, Digger and myself leaving Kelmscott Dome at 9 ish and heading south on the Western side of the railway. A few diversions got us onto Kargotich and Hopelands, turning west at Lakes to lead us around the back of Mandurah.
We normally hit these roads heading North so going in reverse opens up new views. We stayed strong to pass the Miami Bakehaus Falcon and headed onto Estuary and Southern Estuary Rds to arrive at our morning break at Island Point Reserve. We marvelled at the skilful flight of the Pelicans to glide at 10 cms or so above the glass like estuary, lower their undercarriage and water ski to meet their numerous mates on a small near shore island. Nature at its best. Temperatures around low twenties and no wind, perfect riding weather.
The thought of lunch had us back on our Beemers and heading via Lake Clifton, Dorsett and Coronation Rds to our lunch stop at the Pinjarra Bakery (Waroona). Pies, a wrap, a schnitzel and a roll with a variety of beverages were consumed amongst the normal chat of desert roads, army field ration food and toilet paper. Whilst the bakery has a pie award the general consensus from the pie munchers was they are over rated and priced, Bozo for your special info. Also Bozo thought of your dissertation on grass trees as I am sure I saw both varieties on Coronation Rd.
Nurzo decided to head home directly whilst the remaining 5 of us took the beautiful windy and deserted Nangas to arrive at sleepy Dwellingup and then head down Del Park Rd. As there were four GS’s and my RT I thought they would like the brief 5 Kms of gravel Scarp Rd to take us to North Dandalup Dam. The corrugations were not appreciated!
The dam although low level still is a great sight. We proceeded down the Scarp and stopped before the SWH to bid farewells and head home. Most of us diverted onto the Tonkin and I was home around 2:30 with a ride distance of approx 313kms.

Thanks Peter for an inspired suggestion to do the usual Mandurah route in reverse, opening a new perspective on the estuary (plus the chance to use Enduro mode and watch the traction-control light blink madly on the corrugations!).
