Four Red GS's and a Red Roo Ride

A middling sized turn out this morning with thirty motorcycles. Tassy Prankster has fixed his spark issue (it took more than a wedge of huon pine). Anthony was trying to sort out an intermittent miss with the use of diagnostic technology.

The Sunday ride was marked by a plethora of red GS's comprising Bolton and Swampy's immaculate 1200GS's, Angela's 650GS and Bozo's travel weary 1200GSA. The other participants were John, Beemer Dave, Ted and Peter.

A red kangaroo also tried to join the ride hopping in front of Angela as she traversed Canning Road. We turned off Canning Road onto Canning Mills Road to take a shortcut via Brockway Road to Chevin Road and on to the Brookton Highway. A shady run along Gardiner Road through Araluen and past Canning Dam got us to Albany Highway before a run down the scarp via Bedfordale Hill to Byford.

There of the GS's lined up for a photo at Byford:

Serpentine Dam was not without its hazards. A ride group member left his headlight on and was alerted by another motorcyclist that "an old BMW was about to get a flat battery". The 28's, Bronzewings and Magpies were all well behaved but a stray Kookaburra had his eye on Bolton's breakfast and like a dictatorial dietitian made sure that Bolton's chip intake was managed by a well timed swoop. Jane had joined us and was as much to blame for encouraging the Kookaburra only just uttering "what a magnificent bird" before the flash of colour launched at her and Bolton snatching a chip, seasoned by Swampy, who was planning also to swoop.

The locals were left to fend off the wildlife and the group headed across the Serpentine Dam for a free flowing run down Kingsbury Drive. Ted liked it so much he turned around at the bottom of the scarp and rode it all over again.

An immersion in the South West Highway traffic concluded the ride.

Great for Jane to join us in her backyard and for her and Bolton to provide the highlight of the coffee break. Thanks to Swampy, Peter and Beemer Dave for helping with the flow of the ride and for Swampy running as Tail End Charlie, Tail End Toastie and Tail End Chippie.

Spotted a Kingia with its distinctive flowering spheres on drumstick like stems on Eleventh Avenue, Hilbert (between Wungong and Haynes):
