A healthy roll up at Catalano's today. Good to see GT on his Midnight Special Yamaha and Rob on his Fluoro Green Kawasaki steed. Also good to see a younger than club average age, Andrew, turn up on a smart blue K. Swampy was busting some high kicking moves that concerned a father ushering his distracted toddler along the line of bikes.
Octogenarian Ted was keen as mustard to get out on a ride on his BMW airhead after having a replacement piston and sleeve flown in from Germany and fitted by Steve. Steve was fussing around Ted's bike and noticed leaking fuel. Luckily it was from a very full tank expanding from the heat of the bike's engine.
After the ride was announced it bucketed down with rain from the "mildly black" clouds but the sagacious six, DFS, Ted, Just John, Nannup Nick, Peter Bee and Bozo persisted with a run up the Tonkin Highway to Ellenbrook and on to Ginger's. The roads were surprisingly good and for much of the run through the Chittering Valley being pretty dry. Pausing at the packed Bindoon Bakehaus for a break and a half marathon to the public toilets, Nannup Nick spotted a bike with a few digits separation from his own bike's registration. "That is Raider's old 1250" Nick announced and as we got to the bike "Raider" was still emblazoned on the tank. The chap on the bike thought that "Raider" was a sub model of the GS and advised that he had the bike as a loaner whilst the head on his was having fastener surgery.
A rapid run up Crest Hill Road and Moolabeenie Road got us to a very pleasant sojourn at the @Cafe at Gingin. The radar promised a precipitation free journey if we headed home via Military Road but that was not the case. A deviation via Old Yanchep Road and the group split up at Neaves Road.
The countryside was almost as fluorescent as Rob's Kwacka and there was plenty of sequences of sun and blue sky to make it an enjoyable ride. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as Tail End Charlie.
