Thursday Ride June 18 Replaced With Friday Ride June 19

Post by pspencer »

The BOM have been pretty accurate so far so, as I sit in brilliant sunshine typing this, I have got to believe the crap weather forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
So I propose on FRIDAY JUNE 19 to leave Shell Ascot at 8:00am to travel to Mojos Mundaring grab a coffee and leave at 9 ish for destinations to be democratically decided.
Please respond positively or propose a suitable alternative. Remember we are all in this together.

Negative from me, using the grantee in the shed to relocate a boat on a trailer and FB stuff to attend to.
Enjoy. One day soon........ I'll be back.

Well we picked the no rain day but it was chilly.
Nick, Sophie, Nurzo, Noel, Anthony, Brian, Swampy and I met at Mojos for a warming coffee. 8.5 degrees on the way there, but standing in the weak sun, trying to peek through fog, and a warm coffee got us back to normal temps. The process of DDD prevailed and we had a target of the Greenhills Inn as our lunch stop. But to get there was the challenge. I decided they all needed to see the three lookouts on the way.
So through Mundaring and Parkerville soon had us on O’Brien Rd heading into the Gidgegannup Region to get us back onto Toodyay Rd. With the sun shining, no rain, no wind, roads reasonably dry, temp around 12 degrees we just had to take Fernie, Salt Valley, Sandplain, Stirlinga and Racecourse Rd to get us to our first stop at the Toodyay Lookout. Chilly view with fog in the valleys. We suddenly realised Nick was missing but he messaged Sophie to say he was in the C C Cafe. Caught up with him as we left Toodyay for Northam. Nick later advised he lost us at the lights in Mundaring, minutes after we left Mojos. Sorry Nick, but he knew where we were heading so minimal damage. That has to be a record for loosing a colleague!
With the complete entourage we took the scenic route to the Northam Lookout with foggy clouds in some of the shaded valleys. Brian’s very pretty R9T had its first incidence with his small bag strapped on the pillion slipping down onto the hot exhaust and leaving some burnt plastic on the chrome exhaust exit. I’m sure that Brian with a bit of elbow grease can fix that and return the 9T to its immaculate condition.
There were comments about hunger setting in so off we headed to the York Lookout. I consider this to be the most scenic and today it did not let us down. But food was required so we departed for the Greenhills Inn.
As usual we were warmly welcomed and we sat out the front in warming sunshine and talked bike things. Very pleasant and so relaxing.
Back to York and CutHill Rd got us onto the Talbots and to the Lakes Servo where we said our goodbyes and found our own ways back to home.
Thanks to all for a very relaxing and even though the weather was cool it was still a very pleasurable ride. Thanks for Swampy’s TEC assistance.

Once upon a time on a chill Winters morning 8 club members braved the chill morning air of approx. 5C to meet at Mojo's in Mundaring for a warming and refreshing coffee and a chat before departing on the days ride!!

Ably led by Peter and followed close behind Sophie, Noel, Anthony, Brian/5, Nurzo and Swampy as Tail End "Charlie" we left on a meandering run through the picturesque back blocks of the hills to emerge on Toodyay road before deviating onto O'Brian road to round off some rather square tyres before once again emerging back back onto the highway further east to head towards Toodyay!! "Yay"

Turning off onto Salt Valley road Swampy had a close encounter with a young Roo skipping school
Onto Sand Plain road and we emerged at the Toodyay Lookout for a very welcome comfort break and a chance to stretch our legs. After 5 minutes of banter Peter noticed that "Nannup" Nick was missing from our midst and a lively discussion ensued as to where he had gone as no one including the every reliable and vastly experienced TEC had noticed his absence?
A quick phone call from Sophie to big brother found he was relaxing and indulging in some country style hospitality with a hot coffee at the "Cola" Cafe :?:

It appears that the ever reliable and vastly experienced TEC had missed "Nannup" Nick when we left Mojo's and he had been stranded at the traffic lights on GEH and he had missed the ride!!
No excuses as I am guilty as charged your Honour but Nick I think you need to raise your profile a little as no one else missed you either mate

We rode on to the Northam Lookout with Nick now safely in our midst before making a fuel stop necessary for the Noel's HP2, Sophie's pristine little Sports and Brian/5's
RnineT Special Edition!

Onto to Yorks lovely Lookout for another brief break before we scooted on to the Green Hills Hotel for a very welcome break for a delicious feed prepared by the very gracious and welcoming staff.
I guess she must have noticed we belonged to the prestigious BMWMCCWA as a fresh table cloth was laid out for us as we sat outside to enjoy the warming sunshine 8)
A quick ride back to the Lakes on GEH via West Talbot Road before the group parted company to head home.

I arrived home around 1530 after a magical ride in our beautiful verdant green countryside with a terrific group of club members!!............ You too Nick

Swampy how gracious to accept the guilty verdict but I am equally guilty as I should have stopped more often and counted bikes. It is not like 8 is a huge number! Oh well lesson learnt and Nick accepted the minor separation in his normal positive manner, so no major harm done. Move on to the next ride.
Or perhaps you or Elsie were hinting to us all “ No more TEC for me, I wanna be up the front “ He He Ha Ha.
