Peaceful Bay
Any info yet regarding who's heading to the Peaceful Bay weekend?
Is there an organised ride down there?
Are we in the same spot as last year?
Is anyone taking the Sambuka?

Re: Peaceful Bay
I'm heading down Saturday morning with the Starship Enterprise and a couple of new GS riders as wingmen but only staying Saturday night. Leaving home at 8.30 am.
Re: Peaceful Bay
Same place (so Lefty tells us). Seems to be a number of us making our way down - expecting you & Ev to have a few Sambuka's on the ice for us when we get there!
See you there.
p.s. those of us able to take Mon as a holiday are staying for a loooong weekend

I'm not touching that Sambuka stuff again..., last time I fell into my tent and didn't zip it up and the mozzies had there way with me all night, Me and Ev should be there Saturday arvo if a Baby sitter can be tricked into looking after the mess making eating machines.

Re: Peaceful Bay
Hello to all and any,
We are wanting to join you for the ride to Peaceful Bay to stay over on Saturday but have NOT been previously and therefore dont know what the drill is so to speak. So where do we meet for Peaceful Bay run?
I assume the Vic PArk cafe??, what time and what to bring ? We could also meet up further down if other groups are going later than others or are wanting to go from home and by pass Vic park.
I assume simple items like tent, bed roll, cooking gear and food ?? If there is a shop close at hand that will save carrying more than is necessary on the way down. Can anyone advise on that shop facility if it exists. Also it is expected to be 40 flaming degrees on Saturday and so would assume a few drink stops along the way down ??
)
Any advice back from those who have done this before would be helpful.
Thank you
Geoff.

Re: Peaceful Bay
There's a small general store / liquor store at Bow River Bridge, near the bitumen turn off to Peaceful Bay. It's 5-10 minutes from the site.
They sell fresh marron at this time of year if you're into that sort of tucker.

Re: Peaceful Bay
The plan is to depart from Catalano's by 8:3o am Saturday, meet up with a couple of riders in Pinjarra at 9:30am,
not sure of the route after that, but will probably head thru Collie, and down thru Kirup for a pie(They make the best pies in the S/West)
I hope to have a few on the ride, but as long as we all get to Peaceful Bay , is OK.
We will be in an area called "Biker's Pit". It is just behind an area called the "Bull Ring".
There is about 50 metres of firm sand trck into our area
Just take general camping stuff. There is a small amount of stuff at the Caravan Park office. (Bread, milk, icecream etc.
For those not been before, Peaceful bay is about halfway between Walpole and Denmark.
Coming from Walpole, turn right just before Bow Bridge.
Obviously, coming from Denmark, turn left just after Bow Bridge !!
The temperature is now supposed to be in the mid 30's , possible shower, for Saturday
I hope to see lots of you there
Cheers

Re: Peaceful Bay
hope that everyone had as good a weekend as I did.
Thanks to everyone for the company, bit hot riding back up today, came back via Denmark (brekkie), Mt barker, Rocky Gully, Frankland River, Boyup Brook, Gnomesville then back up the highway for a bit then cut through the back roads to Tonkin highway. 1000kms for the 2 days. Was great to be riding the Starship Enterprise for the trip with the nagavator on the back.

Re: Peaceful Bay
Yeah Wednesday night and I'm still grinning about the great weekend I had at Peaceful Bay . I met up with Dave at Aurthur River about 11.00am and was greeted by a friendly roadhouse lady with a free coffee for the driver . We turned off at Kojannup and wound our way down to Frankland where we happened across 6 riders regrouping at a tee intersection and after a quick exchange of directions and destinations agreed to have lunch with them at Rocky Gully . Bourbon and a burger sounded good to me and then we rode off to Denmark passing 8 police cars who were shadowing some badder bikers than us which was a good thing as a couple of the crew were exeeding the speed limit a tad. Refuelled in Denmark and met a couple of BM riders who had been to the site but couldn't stay the night . Then met up with Dave Ward and his dog at Bow Bridge . On arrival at the caravan park whilst looking for the location of the others we got directions from a guy called Allen who turned out to be a guy I went to high school with in 1970 and had seen once in Kalgoorlie 25 years ago . Worth coming just to see Al again and we talked about old times and people from the past . I found a spot for my tent and said guday to some old aquaintences then set out to meet some new people and cook some tucker. All set for a big night and the time just flew past as I listenned to Lefty sing and play while I had a couple of ice cold crownies and exchanged stories with some great company . I returned to my tent for my last beer for the night to find the ice had melted and the water had found it's way to the lowest part of the tent from the high position the cooler bag was in and was not impressed , could have been worse I suppose . Got woken at 5.30 by some noisy early birds and ended up getting up as unable to sleep in . We got packed and left about 10am after I misplaced my keys and had to unpack my tent to find them in the tent , don't you hate that ! Nice steady ride home stopped for lunch in Manjimup and fuel in Kirup before parting company with Dave and Guy and heading towards Collie on a minor back road . We saw Geoff and two others along the way during the journey as they stopped or we stopped and the day was fairly warm . I did a little over 800 k and loved ever second of it . Rick Silk Collie
