Steve another bloody good interesting video. Whilst you were on the ever reliable DR were there any other bikes you thought yes that is doing a good job? Looked a bit knarly for 1200’s!

My hat off to those Riders on R1200/1250’s although one rider had a few ‘offs’ and there were many ‘oh shit’ moments. I was glad I was on the DR but even that was a handful in certain circumstances (Bill will attest to that). I have come to the realisation that I am an Adventure Tourer kinda guy as opposed to an Adventure Enduro kinda Rider.
:P

The ride was advertised as “big bike friendly” At one stage I was considering taking my 1250 GSA based on this. After doing some pre ride research of the tracks around Dwellinup which was difficult as the ride was a “Mystery route to a mystery destination overnight campsite” which was supposed to appeal to the adventure rider spirit that the group thrived on, I decided on the Suzuki Dr 650 for the ride, I am somewhat happy with that decision. The ride was definitely NOT FOR BMW large Boxer 1200/1250 heavy bikes and could have been regarded as being dangerous riding them on such tracks. I found the tracks fairly demanding requiring constant concentration and vigilante planning of the line taken traversing thru some of the gnarly sections. All the off road riding skills that have taken many years practice had to be drawn from for survival on this trip. This is what I enjoy about tackling these adventures that makes one keep coming back for more. I did come off on one section at the start of the first gnarly piece of dirt, probably as a result of not being properly focused. This was a wake up call and I managed the rest of the trip with no more offs, not saying there weren’t some other puckering up moments thou.
I am probably getting a bit old for this activity (70) but am enjoying getting out there doing it while I still can. It sure beats riding around the countryside on sealed roads...........
