The BMWMCCWA Camp Cook Off is will be held at NARRIKUP on Saturday the 11th September.

A sample of the plated meal is to be presented to the judges between 6.45pm and 7.15pm for taste testing and scoring.

I am planning a dirt ride to the Camp Cook Off, keep an eye out for details closer to the date.

Update from Lefty - he is doing a reconnaissance run this week and will refine his route, meeting place and time within the next few days.

I will refine my plans and post details by Saturday, some of the roads we were hoping to travel, are closed due to washaways and one has a metre of water over the road - so working on plan b at present. It will be a leisurely ride along country roads and dirt in patches.

Meet at Caltex Dell Park Roadhouse, corner of South West Hwy & Dell Park Rd at 9am Saturday 11th Sept, for a 9.15 briefing and 9.30 launch.

Wandering through the back roads and arriving at the Narrikup store mid afternoon, Lefty said you need to purchase at least 1 ingredient from the store, before heading the the camping area.

The route for the return trip on Sunday will be decided on the day.

Saturday 11th September Narrikup Cricket Ground Hannan Way NARRIKUP
~17 klms South of Mt Barker.
#option 1. Make your own way there.(3 1/2 boring hours down Albany Hway from Armadale)
# option 2. Cookie will be leading a combination Dirt/Sealed ride (See Cookie for info.)
# option 3. Lefty will be leading a sealed backroad ride, departing from Miami Bakehouse on Forrest Highway, Southbound, (approx 74klms South of South Street,at 9:15 am.
Fuel stop at Waterloo Rd (91 and 95) (~82ks), to Boyup brook via Gnomesville (~104ks) 91 unleaded at Boyup Brook
Waterloo Rd to Frankland (202ks)
Boyup Brook to Frankland (107 ks)
Frankland to Narrikup via Stockyard and Martgallup rds, then Albany Highway (~90 ks)
We drove this route this week, NO roadworks, straight stretches, wide winding roads, narrow winding roads, beautiful farming scenery (keep your eyes on the road )and wildflowers. It was a 6 hour car trip, with 3 stops. It should be 5 to 5 1/2 bike trip.

As in previous years, all food and utensils must be carried on motorcyle, sidecar, trike, or trailer
EXCEPT one ingredient which must be purchased from the Narrikup Country Store.
Beer and wine, including Port, is available from the store, also Pre-mixed Spirits. Canned food, Sauces, Meat, and Veges also available
Access to Store is via Albany Highway, and then on the southern leg of Hannan Way, 500m down.
(no direct road access from the oval : road across railway line is blocked).

Camping on Cricket Ground, only in a Kayak. Ground is very soggy ! There is a paved area for parking the bikes, and several dry spots for tents. I suggest you bring a waterproof groundsheet. Ground is very soggy ! Some space is available in the Clubrooms. Refrigerator and Freezers are Strictly out of Bounds
There are a couple of drums for Campfires, and cooking-fires. Extra points awarded for using your own stoves !
Steve (Dinga) Bell is co-producer of this event, and has procured some great prizes from various outlets. We are a bit short of Judges, so if you want to attend but not "Cook-Off" please volunteer to be a Judge.

Thanks to everyone involved including the organisers, judges, sponsors and all our participants.

I’m so happy to have been recognised by the judges and to get mentioned first (I.e., well actually that meant the lowest score but still recognised!). The wettest winter in years has continued into spring so it presented challenges but the sports courts meant we didn’t get wet from below. Thanks to the Narrikup Community for the use of the facility.

Thanks to everyone involved and congratulations to all the master chefs recognised for their culinary expertise.
