What a lovely break to see the sun come over the ranges this morning after all the rainy days we have endured!
Yep I know we need it but our poor elderly bodies also need a dose of Vitamin D now and then as well to keep us healthy!!
Elsie wet her knickers traveling up the Brookton Hwy while traveling through thick patches of fog on the my way to Mundaring. Streams of rain water was flowing across the highway in numerous locations with passing vehicles throwing up a heavy mist of spray.
Quite chill as well around the orchards with the temp. dropping to 5C in places!!
It was good to arrive at Mojo's where I parked myself under a heater and refreshed myself with a hot coffee.
Another good turn out from the lads with 9 of us gathering for refreshments! Vic, Noel, Scruff, Nick, DFS, Peter, Brian/5, Robbie and Swampy attending.
Noel had other commitments so I, that is me, that is Swampy lead the group of 8 out onto Grt. Eastern Hwy. and onto The Lakes and York via West Talbot Road.
A nice smooth steady run saw us arrive in York where I guided the group to the local relieving station only to find the access road blocked off for road works.
So biting the bullet we continued on through the back road to Northam and it rewarded us with a beautiful showing of hundreds of hectares of freshly blooming Canola!!
Past Northam and onto the scenic road to Toodyay where we chanced on a quiet parking spot to stop and relieve the pressure valves which were fit to bursting!!
A local stopped and warned us of the Avon River flowing over the bridge adjacent to the Northam/Toodyay road. say ing it was only about a foot deep!!
Everyone else stopped to see if yours truly could make it across safely before following up when I eventually reached dry land on the other side of the bridge
I never witnessed it but Vic ploughed through on his RT throwing up a bow wave the the Queen Mary would have been proud of
Nevertheless we all made it across safely and meandered into Toodyay for a welcome lunch break.
It appeared that toasted cheese and tomato sangers were the order of the day except for Princess Scruff who ordered Scones, Jam and Cream which he very delicately buttered, creamed and jammed!! He accomplished this task so prettily, even the Queen would have been proud to have him sit at her dining table!! I kid you not!!
On the road again and we travelled as a group along Julimar Road and through the Chittering Valley where the streams had flowed over the banks to Bullsbrook where we parted company to make our way home.
Thanks guys for the great company and to Peter for taking on TEC duties. A lovely day out in the country to clear some cobwebs!!
