With the weather forecast more kind than the last few days I am up for a short ride on Thursday prior to the Great Nannup trip in the weekend. So standard 8:00 departure from Gloria Jeans Ascot to motor up to Mojos Mundaring for a chat and a 9 ish departure to somewhere.

After yesterday’s rain, today turned out to be fine and mild, an ideal day for a ride. A small party left from Gloria Jeans at Ascot for Mojo’s. Todays numbers were down slightly from last week, however there were enough to fill the tables seating. The conservation has not improved, the usual diatribe this time mostly directed to bikeless Ross & newbike Swampy. As some decided to save their rear ends for the Nannup ride only five decided to departed for Goomalling. Peter decided he needed a bit of relaxation before the demanding job as trip leader for the Nannup ride, so decided to go TEC, Brian was bulldozed into taking the lead.

The route out was via the eastern ratrun - Stoneville, Chidlow and Wundowie, Bakers Hill to Clackline. Then through Spencers Brook, Northam, Grass Valley, Southern Brook. Finally, along the terrific Meckering – Goomalling road. The lunch time conservation was much more educational delving into harvesting, transportation and tractor specifications.

The return home was via Toodyay, West Toodyay, Salt Plain, Salt Valley and Gidgegannup. Here the group split, some taking the direct route home carrying on down Toodyay Road, with two deviating to take the western ratrun through Parkerville and John Forrest National Park to finally join the commuter traffic on the GEH.

Who could ask for more –a day’s riding with beautiful weather, great empty roads, scenic country, and a purring boxer.

Brian

Thanks B5 for taking the lead and allowing me to relax as TEC, too easy with the experienced riders on this ride. Another topic at Mojos that was attacked with glee was the colour of Vic’s new RS  I personally like it and when his new helmet’s repaint job is complete to match the bike it will all look pretty dam cool.
But back to the ride, very relaxing, great company, weather cool but fine and the colour of the Wheatbelt starting to show the summer shades. Great day, thanks for doing the write up B5.

I agree Pete and Congratulate Vic for taking it all in good humour as was what the roast was always intended. 8) (Austin Yellow is the official colour)

A lot of banter and animated conversation with many of us bearing the brunt of the group jibes!!

A very enjoyable morning coffee break with some good mates!!

Cheers
