Bridges A Go Go

A solid turn out this morning at Catalano's with 100RSR for sale and a very schmick 40 year GS Tribute Bike. Swampy seemingly dodged a puncture by millimetres with a nail through a section of tread that was able to be removed without the tyre deflating.

Six riders and a pillion examined an alternative way to get to Bindoon without crossing the two bridges that were to be reconstructed resulting in the cutting of the run through the Chittering Valley. Andrew + Ellie, Rhonda, Nannup Nick, Rod Rocket Peter, Peter Bee and Bozo took Orrong Road to ascend the scarp and deviated onto Pomeroy Road. A deviation onto Fern Road added some excitement for one rider as he crested a hill at speed to negotiate a tight set of corners. Filtering through to the Parkerville Tavern we took a deviation that included Hidden Valley Road before a loop on Reen Road and Reserve Road. A sedate commute to Fernie Road was followed by a spirited run through the corners on Salt Valley Road and a bypass of Toodyay via River Road. Cutting back on Coondle West Road most of the corners had sprinklings of ball bearing gravel. An enjoyable run along Dewars Pool Road dropped us onto the Great Northern Highway for the descent into Bindoon. Negotiating the COVID-19 protocols successfully enabled a pie break before hitting the Chittering Valley along Blue Plains Road.

The two bridges that were going to be replaced just south of Julimar Road had had construction work suspended. We have until November 2022 before works are scheduled to restart to enjoy the run through the Chittering Valley.

Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end Charlie.

Thanks Bozo for the “ spirited run “ . Here I was thinking that the Bindoon Bakehaus was going to run out of food but it was only the “ spirited run “ So a very pleasant run with low thirties weather and all riders as far as I could see, which was usually only one bike or trike, as usual behaving up to the normal high standard. Thanks all for a great day

Yes Bozo, Many thanks to Peter who's eagle eye who spotted the unwelcome invader of my rear tyre before any further deeper penetration of my otherwise virgin tyre occurred

Thanks also to DFS for loaning me a pair of pliers ( I forgot I was carrying a brand new Leatherman on my belt)

The perpetrator's digit was skilfully and carefully extracted without further damage to the victims integrity and was carefully disposed of by a lovely young Cat's waitress who witnessed the delicate operation 8) (It's always good to have a reliable witness)

A wet test was conducted using a tissue soaked in somethning from the men's urinal with the result coming back as a positive containment of internal integrity.

I was then able to proceed on an enjoyable 250km ride without the victim going down on me

On Tuesday of this week I will be replacing both front and rear tyres in order to preserve my own future integrity and safety!!
