Smoking the twisties

An excellent turnout this morning at Catalano's, particularly if you coalesce the Cogitating Codgers with the Catalano Charismatics.

Nine riders ignored the advice on controlled burns and headed on a twistie rich ride including Repatriation Road, Fern Road, O'Brien Road, Fernie Road, Sandplain Road, Lovers Lane, River Road and Coondle West Road to get to the packed town of Toodyay. Last in succession, Peter Bee, was sent as an advance party to secure an upstairs table at the packed Toodyay Bakery. He was quickly joined by Guy, Nannup Nick, Michael, C/4 and Bozo followed by Rob and Multimedia Mark. Ted left the ride between Mundaring and Toodyay as arranged.

The journey was significantly slowed by smoke hazard speed limits, from controlled burns, with an extended period of 40 kms per hour. The bikes threatened to go into limp home mode if the slow speed was sustained. Fortunately, the group was able to enjoy some spirited riding on O'Brien Road and Sandplain Road. Lovers Lane was a novelty for many riders who had avoided it in the past.

Chat about the Goldfields pipeline dominated the interaction over baked goods before a run home up Racecourse Road and on to the Clackline Toodyay Road before heading home. The ride ended at Guy's hometown. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end Charlie.

Lots of twisties and a little bit of smoke.

Thanks Bozo. It never ceases to amaze my simple mind that familiar road’s traversed in reverse or in a different order make it a different ride. So another different ride completed in cool spring weather. Great! Thanks to all the excellent riding by all parties the job of TEC was too easy.

Thanks Bozo for a given requested ride through the twisties. Great company and conversation as always and tip top effort by TEC Peter.
Marvellous spring ride day.
