An elite group gathered at the Dome just up from Catalano's to pillion in the new year.
Eight riders suppressed their shortage of sleep to meander through the Darling Scarp from Lesmurdie to the Avon Valley. Nannup Nick, Fiery Ross, Sophie, Vic, GS Mark, Rod Rocket Peter, Swampy and Bozo wiggled their way through Repatriation Road, Fern Road, Mundaring Weir Road, Roland Road and O'Brien Road before a detour to the Lancewood Woops.
The group had not anticipated a u-turn using a roundabout and a little kerb hopping took place before the group were safely back together to tackle the balance of O'Brien Road. A quick stop at the Brock Memorial before the run to Mundaring on Reserve, Reen, Spencer, Inthanoona, Bunning, Kinston, Anketell and Stoneville Roads. A coffee break at a packed Dome Cafe was followed by the group making their own way home.
Great to be out with a happy group on low traffic, shaded roads. Great to have Swampy as tail end Charlie.

Re: First ride on the First of the First
It has been a long time between drinks Chris and it was a pleasure to act as your tail End Charlie today, on what turned out to be an exhilarating ride to welcome in the New year by blowing away last years cobwebs and riding in good company!!
For your information, I was again first of the first today very closely followed by Rocket Rod and Wes!!
So I guess the record stands? (But no candle)
Happy New Year All

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
