Forecast 40, 44 last Thursday so we did it we can do it again. Leaving Gloria Jeans Ascot 7:30am to ascend to Mojos Mundaring for a 9:00am ish departure for a short ride to ???? DDD

Despite the threat of 40 degree temperatures the heat/5 assembled at Gloria Jeans for the billy goat run to Mojos. Brian/5 led David P, Lefty, Bozo and Peter Bee through as many narrow twisting roads to emerge at Parkerville before meeting up with Fiery Ross, Pilbara Ross and Navigator Nick at Mojos. Applications for riders was down with only the blue-heat/5 and the hot-blue-bee taking up the challenge. The DDD was Beverley, with a more direct route than usual was selected. With the hot-bee taking the lead. it was straight to The Lakes, down Talbot W, Talbot, up Cut Hill to end up going through York. Then the Top Beverley-York Road for an early arrival into Beverley.

The Red Vault is closed until 21st February so lunch was at the bakery. The pies & pastes were given a miss so the menu of choice was sushi and a salad roll. So as not to duplicate our inward leg it was out through the back streets of Beverley to take the Westdale Rd and Brookton Hwy for home. After a smooth run along the highway it was a stop in Karragullen to rehydrate and let a semi-trailer get ahead. Descending the hills into the heat via Kalamunda Road. Up until this point the /5 engine temperature on the cruise was always below 120 degC. Waiting at the lights for Abernethy Rd it peaked to 137 deg this matched an air temperature of 40 deg. Previously the run had only been in the high 30’s.

B/5, thanks for write up, went to do it this morning and you had done it so well. Maximum engine oil temps not easy to define but it appears 120 degrees C is the normal max reading but it appears it can go up to 150 degrees C with no major breakdown of oil properties. Not clearly defined by manufacturers as expected.
