Burning Topic

Dome at Victoria Park had over 30 bikes parked up but the centre of attention was the newly released Aprilia Toureg with a big A for Astro on it. Multimedia Mark managed to munch a malevolent morsel or two in 2023 and was awarded the "Poor Food Choice Award".
Ten riders, Wightman, Multimedia Mark, R90S Mark, Brian/5, Navigator Nick, Mick S, James, Steve, Peter Bee and Bosozoku meandered their way to Armdale to be greeted by bridgeworks on Carradine Road necessitating a change in plan to get to Churchman Brook Dam. The elevated temperature, the fire propensity for Jeeps and recent fire experiences in vehicles led to a burning topic on a full fire ban day. A simple run past Canning Dam was followed by a stop at the destroyed town of Gleneagles, burnt out in the same lightning events that decimated Dwellingup.
A cool spot with a view over Serpentine Dam was a welcome respite before a run home down Nettleton Road and the ride ending at Byford. The temperature kept climbing through the foothills suburbs and their swathes of bitumen hitting 41 degrees C.

Good to get out and fit a ride in despite the heat. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as Tail End Charlie and to James for his quick reaction.
