Feeling the Start of Spring- Sunday September 8

Post by pspencer »

Yes no rain predicted so there was a large turn up at Diverso Café with Peter W on his new GS1300 and Sophie on a new KTM 990 Duke, plus who could forget Andrew on a 1938? Norton 500. So much varied eye candy. Rob ( Astro ) was also welcomed back after recovering from his nasty broken leg from his off on a Helena Range mud saga.
I thought a visit to Pingelly was overdue and with no objections, that I could hear, a merry team of about 10 headed off at 8:30am.
We took the run past the Casino to get onto Orrong, through Karragullen with the first stop at Churchman Brook Dam then hit the Albany Hwy for the run down to North Bannister. This was at a more conservative pace than I preferred, which some would say is conservative any how, but the transport of two large mining trucks occupying both lanes was the valid reason. The stop at North Bannister was short as we had finally got past the moving road block and wanted to stay in front. A short stop in Wandering to fill Goldie’s tank and we took the very pleasant run to Pingelly.
I had seen on their website that the 6 Seasons Café was open on Sundays but on arrival this was not to be. So it was a pie and drink from the open IGA (that was the only option) which we happily consumed in the adjacent park. Weather fine but only about 16 degrees, a bit more chilly than expected.
The team did its own thing from there with 3 of us taking the Williams to York Rd to get to the Brookton Hwy. Very pleasant run.
Thanks to all for the company and again thanks to Mick for great TEC duties and Rob Astro for leading us home.
A cool 350 km ride with great mates. Who could wish for more.
