Ride on Sunday 17 February

A split in the choice of Sunday morning Cafes had 13 bikes at Dome Victoria Park and about the same at Catalanos. B/5 advised the Cats team of an 8:30am departure from Dome to visit the Red Vault Café in Beverley. So we departed Dome with 9 bikes following me past the airport and the Thursday ride route of Helena Valley, Hovea, Darlington, Mahogany Creek to arrive in Mundaring. No stopping yet so down to Stoneville then Mt Helena and Chidlow with a diversion via Ash and Doconning Rds onto Old Northam Rd and our usual route through Wooroloo, onto GEH, Inkpen, River Rds to glide along the lovely Talbots and Waterhatch to arrive at the Red Vault Café in Beverley just after 11am.
We timed it perfectly by missing the morning tea groups and a bit early for the lunch crowd. So we had the place to our selves and with a temperature of 32 degrees and a light breeze sat comfortably on the shaded verandah. Usual banter of a variety of issues with the majority munching into hamburgers. Overall consensus was food pretty good and coffees ok.
Some of the team did their own thing after lunch but the majority followed me heading towards York, taking the Top Beverley Rd passing York and heading back onto the Talbots via Cut Hill Rd.
The ride finished at The Lakes as riders departed for their homes. Interesting regarding temperatures of 33 degrees on top of scarp, 36 degrees half way down and 38 degrees on the sandplain.
Thanks to all for great company and a special thanks to Mark for TEC duties.
