A happy dozen were ready to take off from Mojos with Rob - Astro kindly offering to lead us to eventually arrive at the Pickering Brook General Store.
But there was a minor delay with a help request from Fiery Ross over at Dome to help get an ST3 Ducati(1000cc, 2003 to 2007) going that was suffering from a flat battery. So I went over with the quick charger and of course the battery was well hidden behind the right side fairing that required the 2 sections removal to access the battery terminals. It was Parky Bobs machine being exercised by Dave and Ross as Parky Bob is doing the Aus circuit in his truck camper. Got it going with Dave and Ross going directly to Corse Ducati for battery replacement.
So I dashed back to the eager riders at Mojos ( thanks to all for waiting ) to depart down to Mundaring Weir and taking Aldersyde, Walnut, Patterson to glide past our lunch stop and head down Canning, Welshpool East, Crystal Brook, Kelvin, White and Reservoir to the Tonkin. Left at Canning Mills up the scarp to Canning, through Karragullen, Brookton Hwy, Gairdner, Croydon pop out onto Brookton Hwy again and divert past Chuchman Brook Dam on route to the Albany Hwy. A short stop to chat and back in the saddle to utilise Bedfordale Hill and Talus to access the SWHwy and head south to Kingsbury up the scarp to Jarrahdale. Left turn to the Albany Hwy, head towards Armadale and take Canning Dam Rd for a short break at the Dam upper car park to catch our breath. No rain so far and low twenties temps making it very pleasant.
Straight run Croydon, Gairdner, Brookton Hwy and Canning to the destination of the Pickering Brook General Store. Relatively busy but we soon settled down with food and drinks. The pitter/patter of rain had our attention so it was decided to end the ride there and everybody would find their own way home between showers hopefully.
I mistakenly stopped for fuel at Atlas Ascot and got drenched when I pulled out to go the ten minutes to home. That’s life and with the forecast not unexpected and not a big deal.
Thanks to Rob for leading us on a convoluted curvy ride and the team for generally excellent corner marking. I encourage all to have a go at leading as it is not rocket science.
