Not a flat ride

Catalano's on Sunday was on full emergency footing with a member stuck in Mount Lawley with a screw firmly embedded in the rear tyre. Lefty also had a nail in his rear tyre so the hunt was on for reamers, plugs, glue, pliers and a tyre pump.

Survey Ross, Green Machine Guy and JonO were the first responders to the offsite emergency packing all the gear to fix a flat.

Nine riders headed out to try and avoid flat territory via Optus Stadium. Raider, Rod Rocket Peter, David P, R90S Mark, Goldie, Tom, Rainer, Peter Bee and Bozo were soon climbing up Haddrill Road, taking the dips and climbs on O’Brien Road and bumping along Bailup Road to get to the high speed corners on Burma Road. The impact of the recent storm was evident with dead trees and large broken branches strewn everywhere.

Passing a perfectly functional bakery at Bakers Hill we pushed on via Clackline-Toodyay Road, Salt Valley Road and Sandplain Road to ascend the hills behind the Toodyay racecourse. We rested our loins (knighted or otherwise) in the Chesterfield furniture at the Toodyay Bakery where US politics made for some politically incorrect conversation.

A run home via River Road and Lovers Lane ended a very enjoyable day out.

Thanks to tail end Charlie Peter Bee and a cooperative corner marking group the circuitous ride went like clockwork.
