For Peats Sake

Middling sized group at Catalano's on a day that threatened precipitation.
Eight riders were in for the Sunday radar roulette with Toodyay as the selected destination. A conversation about Peat permeated the day with differing views about the location of the greatest Peat resources in Australia. One proponent was backing Tasmania with near to a million hectares of button grass bogs in western Tasmania whilst the other was advocating Western Australia. Although inflaming heated discussion it eventually bogged down on calorific value.
Brian/5, Mick S, Raider, R90S Mark, Wightman, Lou, Peter Bee and Bozo found a patch of blue sky and followed a sunny path through wet roads in the Bickley Valley, Mundaring and O'Brien Road. Of the 37 roos spotted on the trip, one came close to an interaction with Bozo near Brock's memorial. A run on Fernie Road and Salt Valley Road, Sandplain Road and Stirlingia Drive got us to a packed Toodyay Bakery. After repeating the discussion on Peat enthusiasm for the topic petered out.
The run home was via Katrine Road, Northam, Spencers Brook and Bakers Hill. At Northam we stopped at the Town Council Offices and former Library to discuss the brutalist architecture of Iwan Ivanoff. Other buildings noted were the West Northam Rail Station and the former military camp site of Springhill.

After a regather at Bakers Hill we headed to Mount Helena where the ride ended. Amazing weather (until we were well into the Metropolitan Area) and an interesting ride. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as a very capable tail end Charlie.
