Well, the weather gods were on our side, the ride out from Bindoon in near perfect conditions went smoothly, narrowly avoiding delays caused by an oversize load. First break was Wongan Hills for coffee and cake, cake was lovely, coffee took around 45mins. Our route continued to Wubin for refuel and lunch, traffic was light, and the scenery was a vibrant display of colour - Still plenty of moisture out there and crops looked great. Next stop was Carnamah Big tractor for obligatory photos and meet up with the Gero guys, pop around to take a photo in front of DFS's house, before heading to the Tractor Museum.
The Museum is worth a look ~100 machines on display and the majority are in working order, Lindsay was our guide and was very well versed on the history of each model. We set camp at the Carnamah Caravan Park, great setup and facilities, spotless.
As the sun set, the contestants commenced preparation of respective meals. The theme was Simplicity, Nutritional value and Taste, the judges were presented samples of each dish and took some time to score and rank each offering, The winner was your truly, close behind was Neville Bent, and a tie for third between Jon O & John Wightman, with less than 3.5 points separating 1st to 3rd.
Thank you to Wayne Edmunds and Peta for their efforts and judges duties, all riders for your company - A great weekend out in the greater wheatbelt. Sunday saw riders heading further afield in search of wildflowers, others heading home to Gero, a small group headed south towards metro, again in fantastic weather.
My dish was pulled pork and Kaleslaw in a mini wrap, Nev prepared Salad with fruit and a smoothie, John W presented a Farmers sausage with Camenbert cheese and onions, Jon O prepared a Vegetarian curry with Brown rice.
Thank you to Auto Classic for donation of prizes.
