The expected group departed GJ for Byford. The run-down Tonkin was surprisingly free flowing. We took the usual loop via Connell Ave to bypass Kelmscott missing the traffic and slower sections.

With few already at the Dome the group made up an even dozen. After the usual banter the DDD was shortened to Harvey rather than Brunswick as a few needed to get back a bit earlier.
We headed up Nettleton to Jarrahdale, Serpentine Dam to the SWHwy. We had a police car lead us through North Dandalup, it went straight on and we turned up Del Park Road. In Dwellingup a comfort stop at the information centre. A delayed departure to add air to a tyre. Several decided to take a more direct route to Harvey.

We carried on via Nanaga. Expected to be heavy with traffic due to the school holidays. One we passed a couple cars at the start it was a traffic free run all the way to Waroona. Plenty of cars in the camping areas but little activity to be seen. The low air was found to be a bolt through the tyre so Lefty departed home for repairs.

Crossing the SWHwy we continued to Harvey using the back roads, only popping up and down in Yarloop to miss a section of unsealed road. The group reunited at the Harper St Bakery for lunch. Again, there was good selection of pie/pasties and rolls.

Several elected to head the direct route home with the remainder returning via the backroad down to the Old Bunbury Rd, through Pinjarra then along Corio and Hopelands.

Ideal riding weather mostly in the mid 20’s, peaking to 29 degrees in the metro area as approaching home. My round distance for the day was 370kms

Thanks all for your company
