Mudgee is an old stomping ground for me. A fantastic place. It is where I was living in 1973(?) when I made made the decision to by a new bike - BMW R90S in smoke grey for $2,100 or a Kawasaki 900 Z1 for $1,850. The movie "Stone" was making the rounds at the time and I ended up with the Z1. Bought it from a shop in Mudgee that repaired radiators and sold Kawasaki motorcycles - located just a few steps away from the town clock. A lot of great memories on that bike, and in Mudgee! I can still remember the first ride clear as yesterday. Rode it across the Nullarbor that year - Mudgee to Perth and back. The Eyre Highway was a lousy corrugated and dusted carbonate track from Penong to Eucla. The intermediate fuel stops were Nullarbor Roadhouse and Ivy Tanks - Ivy Tanks is long gone but a few relics of the stop can be found if you tackle the old road. It was about the same time Bear and company initiated the first Border Run.

I reckon I will have to include a run to Mudgee for the BMW event. Many thanks for the heads-up.
