With 40 degrees forecast I did not expect too many riders to accompany me, but 5 presented themselves at our Harvey St departure point and agreed with the selection ( thanks B/5 ) of a short run to the Gidgegannup Bakery.
Took our usual route via Orrong Rd to go past the airport then Roe Hwy, Toodyay Rd, Campersic Rd, Boulonnaise Dr, Connemara Rd, Rollinghills Dr and Pendula Loop to access Lancewood Av and the sweeping curves of O’Brien and Clenton Rds. Pit stop at the Peter Brock Memorial with temperature around a pleasant 31 degrees. Took the Copley-Dale, Berry Rds route to rejoin Toodyay Rd then a descent via Lovers Lane and River Rd into the Avon Valley and a temperature rise to 37 degrees. Folewood and Sandplain Rds took us out of the valley with a 3 degrees drop in temperature.
Passed through the scenery of Salt Plain Rd hitting Toodyay Rd for the run to the Gidgegannup Bakery which on arrival was virtually deserted. Sat on the verandah, with a slight breeze blowing and enjoyed the goodies as JC entertained us with the story of his recent sand track fall neat Wongan Hills. No damage to body or bike luckily but required Emergency Services assistance to lift the bike off his trapped leg.
Following lunch we parted company for a run down Toodyay Rd for most and the Roe, Bypass, GEH run to home. With the temperature around 39 degrees the coolness of home was appreciated.
Thanks to all for joining me on a hot Summers day with special thanks to R69S Mark for superb TEC duties.
