Ted's Ride

With Ted turning 92 a few days ago and going on his first club ride at that age on Sunday it was decided to name the ride to Pinjarra in his honor. It already had been an interesting day with Jamie dropping in after dodging/attracting severe weather all over south-east Asia. Nic and EJ dropped in with Nic on a BMW R80RT that he purchased with 16 km on the speedo that had never been licensed (until this year). Young Chris was keen to give a Ammo Box clad airhead a run to the country to wear the sprues off his new tyres.

27 riders turned up for the Sunday excursion including Ted and his son Robert, Ted's neighbour Nev, JonO, James, Guy, Young Chris, His Royal Griceness, Goldie, AAA Anthony, Andrew, Astro Rob, Tom, Ralph, Rainer, Mick S, 3 Amps Nick, Nic, EJ, Clayton, JP, Rod Rocket Peter, R90S Mark and Bozo.

Through excellent corner marking the group made its way past the old Canning Mill site to Araluen where one rider used all of the road in negotiating a tight corner.

A stop at Canning dam for a photo with Ted front and centre:

After negotiating the excessive traffic management bumps on Bedfordale Hill we had another respite at Byford before a relatively clear run up Nettleton Road to Jarrahdale. We lost a couple of riders due to a cap being let out of a bag that was safely retrieved.

We passed a recent altercation between a car and a tree with the sad looking driver sitting in the shade recovering on our way to Serpentine Dam. A loop up Del Park Road to cut across at the conveyors to get to North Spur Road and a run past a large live kangaroo and a dead kangaroo. A stop at a very busy Pinjarra Bakery was a welcome break. The sun made taking a reasonable image of the group difficult. Only one photo was publishable.

A run back on the Corio Road twisties and a commute up Hopeland Road got us to Hopeland School where the ride ended.

An easy group due to proficient corner marking and enthusiasm for the ride. Great to share Ted's first ride after turning 92. Thanks to R90S Mark for running as tail end Charlie in a very efficient manner.

Thanks Bozo,

I have not enjoyed ambling through our Perth Regions as much as I did on Sunday (Ted's Ride) to Pinjarra.

As mentioned, the corner marker strategy worked flawlessly. Zero anxious moments.

Well done All.
