Thursday 1st January – Mundaring DOME

Seasons greetings to all.

For those that want to join the first ride in 2026 it will be the usual departure from Gloria Jeans Ascot at 7:30 for a ride up to the Mundaring Dome Carpark. Mojos and Dome will be closed. Suspect you may get a MacCafe coffee from across the road.
As most venues will be closed the choices of destinations will be limited so servos like the The Lakes could be an option..
I need to return to be home by 11.00 so the final trip destination needs to be decided by the remaining group. Expected departure from Mundaring will be around 9:00

Forecast is for a warm 37deg day with no rain so a shorter ride in the hills may be preferred.

Brian/5.

B/5 led the 6 riders from Gloria Jeans via the normal back road loop with a bit of Bushmead South thrown in. Dome Mundaring was open where we joined some of the Domites who were just leaving for a “secret” destination. After some discussion on a suitable ride destination, with the constraints of our usual lunch venues closed and the hot weather, we decided on a hills loop with lunch at The Lakes which was guaranteed to be open.
So 5 riders followed me as we passed through the back blocks of Mundaring, Parkerville, Stoneville, Mt Helena and Chidlow to take Lilydale Rd over to Toodyay Rd. A short stint brought us to Bailup Rd to Wooroloo then Werribee, Vineyard, Hawke and GEH had us on Inkpen and onto the GSH to York. Pit stop in York and onto Knotts, the Talbots,Yarra and the GSH to deliver us at The Lakes at around midday and about 35 degrees.
We enjoyed the cool interior of the Service Station and the cool drinks and take away food as expected.
We decided to do our own thing after lunch and I retraced the route of the morning arriving home around 1:30pm with 245km covered and about 37 degrees.
Thanks to all for joining me and special thanks to B/5 for some leading and Pete 2 Volts for great TEC duties with his orange KTM easy to see at the rear.
