Re: THURSDAY JANUARY 29 MOJOS MUNDARING
4 at GJ’s joined by another 7 at Mojos to arrive at 11 for the ride. Astro led us out of Mundaring along GEH taking Old Northam Rd into Chidlow then Ash and Deconning to arrive back onto the GEH and past The Lakes to head to York. Of course we diverted onto Yarra, the Talbots and Waterhatch to glide into Beverley then headed South along the Great Southern to arrive in Brookton for our first stop. Hydrated ourselves then headed West on the Brookton Hwy to turn South onto the York Williams Rd. Sweeping undulating curves through the wheat paddocks to the North Wandering Rd then the almost U turn onto the North Bannister - Pingelly Rd continuing to the Wandering - Narrogin Rd to take us into Narrogin for a fuel stop and arrive at our lunch destination of the New Cornwall Hotel on the eastern side.
The clientele of the pub was more than doubled as we devoured pub lunches and cool drinks. Interesting to note I think my Lemon, Lime and Bitters was the only alcoholic drink, but it hardly rates as alcoholic. Ha ha sign of the times.
Astro lead us on an interesting return journey as we left Narrogin and headed directly to Cuballing then took the Cuballing West Rd to join onto the Wandering - Narrogin Rd and reverse the morning trip back onto the York to Williams Rd diverting onto Westdale Rd. We took a short stop at the St John in the Wilderness Church car park to rehydrate our bodies and souls. We soon arrived onto the Brookton Hwy for the run home with our last stop at the Bean to Brook Café in Pickering for farewells.
Big thanks to Astro for planning and leading a long but exciting rapid ride and Pete 2 Volts for admirable TEC duty.
