Sunday ride to Cervantes

Following breakfast on Sun 19th about 10 riders decided the new Indian Ocean Drive needed to be riden. It was an eventful ride into a darkening sky and howling winds. After a stop in Lancelin for pies and another stop following an encounter with a motorist trailing a trailer that was on fire we arrived at Cervantes to find Anthony just leaving. He didn't even stop just waved at us as he was leaving . We were all mystified how he got there before the rest of us. Ghost riders and all that sort of thing, or maybe a speed fiend.
Great trip and a great new road.

Hello Bill,
Good to hear everyone enjoyed the ride.
I passed Anthony as I headed South from Yanchep, he knows this area very well, for the record I did fix the lawnmower and mow the lawn. Looking forward to a longer ride on the 29th.
regards
Graeme aka Cookie

Great ride on Sunday, passed you while you were all supervising the motorist with the trailer.
Had to keep moving as I wanted to be back in Perth mid afternoon.
Had to deal with a Kamakzi EMU that decide to make a run for it across the road.
He started from the top of a dune and ran down the bank onto the raod nearly taking out the back of the 4x4 in fornt of me and then proceeded to turn slightly and head in my direction. All the barkes where on and it was not looking good at all, I could just about reach out and touch him except I was busy trying to hang on and stop the bike. His legs and my front wheel where occupying the same space I am sure but I did not hit him. Very close call, I thought I was going down on the road with emu feathers sticking out of my nose as at one time all I could see was feathers.
Just be carful on the road as it is a new road through bush and the wildlife having been using the area for a long time before the road went through so they still have thier own highways they roam in the area.
You only have to look at the amount of raod kill on the raod to know you need to take extreme care in regard to having a collison with wildlife on the road.
