Hey guys, seen no discussion about the OCR on here (Off Centre Rally). Seems there are quite a few going. Thought I'd kick off a topic since you are all shy. I'm not going, but would love to read about the preps and routes etc.

Hi Geoff,

I'll be going on the 1150GSA - its farewell ride - Jesse on the F650 Dakar, 1 mate on a KTM 640 another on a DR650, someone I haven't met yet who is on a KLR650 - & its his first ride - & Rusky on his F650Dakar. leaving August 1 GCR to Uluru where we may take different directions. Jesse &i want to take it easy & maybe a bit of blacktop the others may decide to try make it all on dirt via sandover or plenty hwy & adels grove. Meet up again at Lorella Springs. Coming back doing the Gibb River Rd. Should be a good 2 weeks.

As I have already mentioned in this forum I am currently in the NT, so will be departing Darwin on Thursday morning 7 August and arriving at Lorella Springs either Friday late afternoon or Saturday morning. It is a 875k ride and I will be taking the TT600R Yamaha I have in Darwin to putt around on, and given the narrow seat, a case of monkey butt coming up. I did originally have plans to ride up from Perth on the 12GS but haven't been home for any length of time to enable the ride up from Perth, so will have to suffice with the TT. Look forward to seeing you there Pete and also anyone else who is coming up. Pity you can't make it Geoff, as would have been a good test for the panner mount racks. Cheers

For the past 3 months I have been telling myself to contact Lorella Springs and finally got around to doing it today. Spoke with Mick and the following speaks for itself:

1. Breakfast of bacon and eggs or similar will be available at a cost;
2. A spit roast for Dinner will be available at a cost on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights;
3. Lunch WILL NOT be available, so bring your own;
4. Camping is $10.00 per person per night;
5. There is a licenced bar selling spirits and beer;
6. The only telephone is the Office phone and it will only be made available for public use in the event of an EMERGENCY;
7. Petrol will be available, 91 octane and only 400-600 litres will be onsite in drums. I have already indicated that I will require approx 15 litres;
8. Heli flights will be available for $200.00 for a 15 minute flight;
9. EFTPOS facilities are available BUT NO CASH OUT FACILITY;
10. The last 30 kilometres into Lorella Springs has not been graded since last year prior to the wet season;
11. Savanna Way or the road between Roper Bar and Cape Crawford was graded in May 2008 and there may still be a Grader conducting work on the Roper Bar end section north of Lorella Springs, although this could not be confirmed.

Mick suggested that those attending please ring and let him know so that he can get a feel for the numbers he has to cater for. telephone: 08 8975 9917.

Cheers and see you there.
