While down south last weekend (camping in Balingup), some toe rag knicked my helment. A bit of a problem getting back to Perth with a problem like that. Thankfully, the lady in the local general store was very helpful, and she asked someone in Kirup if I could borrow a helmet. So a huge thanks to Mrs Westcoast Trailbike Safaris, who drove from Kirup to lend me a helmet.
I hope I'm therefore vindicated doing a bit of a plug for them. They operate trailbike tours in the southwest (see http://www.westcoastsafaris.com.au/), and interestingly have organised (through KTM) a monster-traillie trip on the first weekend in December from Bunbury down to Augusta and back. I may have got the details wrong (so don't rely on me) but I believe it is $550 for the weekend, including accommodation, food, and fuel. It is aimed at owners of monster traillies (eg 1150GS, 1200GS), including mainly gravel roads and larger trails. There will be a couple of technical sections to challenge people, but it should be appropriate for all. Pillions possible too!
