ANY RIDES NEXT WEEKEND?

Post by Davey_sprockeT »

Hi all,
anybody planning a ride next weekend?
Maybe we could have a dual (Bi-Polar) 8) ride. One group goes for a ride on the red, another goes via the blacktop and we all meet at a suitable hospitable establishment to swap stories

Davey

I am happy to go with the brown bears to Chittering Valley, Keating Road, Beach Road, Plunkett Road to Julimar Road then bitumen to Toodyay where the black bears could meet up with us.

Home via bitumen on Toodyay Road to Fernie Road which is part gravel to the back of Wundowie and then back via Mundaring Weir.

Basic level riding. If we come across anything challenging on Beach Road or Plunkett Road we can back track to Keating Road/Julimar Road

Similar to riding on Ashendon Road and up to Mount Dale.

No deep ruts.

The roads are quite corrugated as the four wheel drives that use it hook along. The first part of Keating Road climbs steadily but is only corrugated not rutted (Bully would take it in sixth gear).

If we have have time I would also like to head down to Cobblers Pool on a gravel road that follows the Avon River valley.

I was at Cobbler Pool not too long ago, looking for the same road, mainly bitumen until a few hundred metres of the pool coming from Toodyay end, after that its locked gates at the quarry.
You can go around on mainly gravel roads along Morangup Rd.to Avon National Park, and down to the river on gravel.
Enjoy.

Six brown Bears headed to the Chittering Valley led by Nigel "Indiana Jones".

The southern side of Julimar Road was very straightforward with a long climb to Moondyne than a back track to Keating Road. Keating Road had been freshly graded , Beach Road and then Plunkett Road.

Then the seach for the lost hill tracks of the Amazon kicked in. Stony climbs and riders scattered through head high scrub was followed by "you can follow this road to Jurien Bay" and "where is that monster hill". After an hour of winding "Taubaman" tracks (every type of surface covered) the group split with three heading for the Coke Cafe in Toodyay via Dewars Pool Road arriving around 12:30pm. An hour later the second group arrived in Toodyay.

Sorry black bears we did not make it by 11:00am but Nigel found his lost hillside tribe.

Thanks Nigel for an enjoyable ride through great terrain.

Sprocket you missed a good un.

Sorry we missed you in Toodyay Chris but I think the both parties enjoyed their respective rides and the weather was terrific for riding. (Hard luck Davey  )

Bugger
Have to get this duff battery sorted.... I was fairly pissed off, - all dressed up in me clown's outfit and me bloody bike goin' nowhere. F@rk !!

There I was stuck at the Cafe and watched all me mates roar off to another adventure and stories to be told...leaving me there all alone, cryin' into me cold coffee.

Looks like you boys had a good day as the brown bears and glad to hear Nigel is back in the saddle as "me TONTO", leading the way.

Looking forward to the photos and more stories of days adventure..

Already looking forward to next weekends menu of suggestions for rides.

Well done lads, sounds like I missed a good ride

PS: I suggest we could keep this thread as the place to see whats coming up for rides after breakfast on Sundays (The title already works) :P :P
