GS 1200 exhaust

I have a GS 1200 with standard exhaust and believe that it could breathe a bit better with an after market system. Remus seems to be the obvious answer but at $1900.00 it would have to have quite an increse with efficiency to make it worth while. Another problem that I have is car drivers not being aware of my presence because of the quiet note of the stock pipe (have had a couple of close calls with drivers cutting into my lane) so a slight increase in sound would be good. Is there a pipe that most 1200er's prefer? I would be glad to hear any feedback from riders with some experience with this.
