Tyres

Post by kev »

Hi all.
I will be buying a rear tyre in a few weeks for my K100RT. I will be doing some touring so need a good tyre. Currently I have a Michelin 130/90-17 Macadam 50 (whatever that means) which came with the bike. Should I stay with this or does anyone know a better one. It can't fit a fatter tyre. Who is a good retailer?
Cheers

The Mich Macs are a pretty good tyre, I'm running one on the back of the K75.
One I've been running on the back of the R65 is Bridgestone Spitfire. I'm really impressed with its ride/roadholding, plus it is a dual compound tyre so will be good for long straight touring, while still holding a decent round profile for cornering. Most other tyres will square off long before being well used.
I was a devote to Metzeler, but am finding the new ones are prone to white lining when barely worn, something has changed or maybe it's the older suspension system not coping.
Britgestone Battleaxe are a proven good performer.

I have used Tyres for Bikes in Vic Park and Bike Tyre Doctor in North Perth for tyres, they are both pretty good. I tend to use Bike Tyre Doctor more only because they are only a couple of suburbs away.
