Battery charger
What is a reasonably priced battery charger to get for the later canbus system on a GS. Interested what is used and won’t do any damage to the electrical system

Re: Battery charger
Optimate 4 Dual Program TM348 Australian version.
It is supplied in Australia with standard mode activated so it needs to be switched to CANBUS mode for GS. Plug and play via dash outlet, no special sequence required.

Re: Battery charger
Goldie I’m happy with my CTek MXS 5amp charger from Repco at about $166 ( less 10% with a RAC card). Will “smart” charge car and motorcycle 12volt batteries and suits the BMW Canbus system. Sorry for not answering earlier.

Re: Battery charger
Hi Goldie,
I use a CTEK charger that I picked up from Repco years ago. It is the small one and has worked reliably with all our normal batteries, car and bikes.
My bike has a lithium battery AND I have never had to charge it. It's been close a couple of times, but has always managed to start the bike.
WARNING: NEVER use the INCORRECT CHARGER on a LITHIUM BATTERY. The Recycle/Renovate mode will kill the battery with over-voltage.
Not having owned a LC, I won't comment on the suitability of this on the newer bikes. But if you're hooking it across the battery terminals, I can't imagine it having any interaction with the CANBus.
Feel free to point out if this is an inaccurate assumption...
If you're plugging it directly into the bike system, then I've got no suggestions...
