AirHead Final Drive Tools

Post by spacey1 »

The following special tools are a requirement to overhaul and install new seals into AirHead final drives.

These were used to re-seal a 1982 BMW R65 final drive.

The PinLock tool is used to undo the front pinion seal holder.

The Final Drive Holder allows the unit to be held in a vice.

The Soft Drink Can is used to protect the large seal on the outer cover. Slide the cover and seal over the can then place this assembly onto the crown-wheel. Don't forget to put all the shims back :!:

Install seals in the correct orientation. A seal installed upside down will leak :!:

I'm looking for an old drive shaft so that I can fabricate a pinion holder, similar to this one:

If no response by the end of the year, I'll purchase a pinion holder tool for the club tool cupboard.
