R100 Frame

Post by thumper »

Does anyone have a R100 (around 1993 version) I could have a quick look at. I am restoring one and before I send the frame off for sandblasting etc I have noticed a bracket on the frame that seems to be broken  (nothing was attached to it ) so Im wondering what was there before?????

Obviously not a lot of R100's around at the moment. I think it may be the bracket that holds the horn on but as I cant find a horn on this bike  (I know its terrible getting old) Im not sure. If anyone has another idea let me know. Id post a pic but there doesnt appear to be a way without holding an image account somewhere (I spend all my money on the bike) Cheers Wayne

I have an '82 R100 you can look at, if that is any help. Although as it is apparently the last of the twin shocks, there may be significant differences to your later model...... cheers.

I have a '94 R80 mono. Do'nt know if they share the same frame, but you can have a look if it helps.

The pre '83 R100 frames had a small bracket below the steering head to accomodate the securing nut of the steering damper. If you are close to Rockingham, feel free to come round and have a look at mine (but they are all 70's airheads)

Thanks Guys - I found a R100 (in bits) but it gave me the answer. It is definately the horn mounting point - not sure if I need it  but I welded another plate in place just to be complete. Cheers
