Fitting Garmin 600 (GS 800) using Touratech lockable mount?

Post by DirtBoy12 »

Got my 660 and a lockable Touratech mount.

Unfortunately I have fatter (Barkbuster) after market bars fitted. Therefore the lockable mounting bracket is designed to fit on a 12 mm centre strut - however my bars don't have this strut.

Any ideas appreciated - that don't revolve around shelling pout more $$$ to Mr Touratech,

thanks ...

Can you not fit a 12mm brace bar , or do your aftermarket bars have a differnt brace built in?
Pictures?

No brace bars fitted, not much room left on the bars to fit one, the bars are fatter (stonger), not as wide than standard also most after market brace bars would not fit are bolted on which defeats the purpose of fitting a lockable mount as some 'scrote' could simply unbolt the brace bar and walk off with the lot ...? still stumped...

Bend a round or falt bar going from one bar clamp bolt to the other to the height you need.
Probably use the front bolt holes and longer bar mount clamp bolts.
If using flat bar bolt unit stright on to flat, if using rod then use supplied clamps.
Use loctite to hold bolts for security
If you need to remove apply heat to break down loctite.
