Spoked wheels for a R100 possible?

Post by bbird »

Hi guys, I have a 1984 R100 it has the snowflake alloy cast wheels. The front does not run true and has been to the rim drs but is too far gone. My question is is it possible to get a spoked set inc hubs ect for this type of BMW. It has dual front disks, rear single disk. Dual shock.

Thanks, any advice appreciated.

Hallo Ben

You would probably change both wheels, so that they are matching. The first problem is that the dishing on the front brake disks are different, so you'd need to replace them too (the snowflake hubs are narrower than the spoked hubs!). You're better off picking up a complete wheel on ebay, or something, for next to nothing. Measure your brake disks' thickness with a vernier. If they are less than 4.4mm chuck them and go for whatever complete wheel (or set of wheels) you can. If they are more than 4.4mm thickness, look for another snowflake rim, one will turn up.
