Ooops...spoke to soon. The leak has reappeared so back to the drawing board...err, workshop.
The leak is on the raised ridge where the outlet pipe goes into the pump. The only fix is to replace the pump...obviously an expensive option. I am riding the bike to Darwin and across to Cairns in July and although it may be alright, i do not really want to leave it unchecked. Does anyone know of any product suitable for fuel leak repairs on a plastic surface. The cracks(s) are hairlines...not visible to the eye. You only know they are there because you can see fuel leaking out.
The original repair has not failed using the clamp around the base of the flange. Any ideas are appreciated.
Well bugger me dead…took the 1200 GSA to Auto Classics because I heard on the grape vine that the fuel leak on the pump may be a recall and replacement at no cost. They had a look and the leak was obvious. Took some details and photos and said they would be in touch. A day later I am told that it won’t be fixed as a recall because of the year (2007) and the high mileage (100,000km). No surprises there. I ordered a used one from the UK for $200 supply and freight and then I get a call from Autos Classic a day later to say that BMW Australia had reconsidered and will replace the pump at no cost to me. It hasn’t been replaced yet but who would’ve thought???

Collected the bike from Autos this afternoon after being covered by warranty. I even got the $90 clamp back from a previous repair and might carry that as a 'spare' just in case.

Had the HP2e in at Auto Classic today for a service and a small amount of fuel was noticed in the top of the fuel pump. Upon further inspection, the fuel pump flange has cracked again - this is after I had 'done the ring fix' back in February this year. BMW now have a recall on the pump cracking issue, and the pump will be replaced by BMW at their cost. Good news.

Hi Steve / Shane,

The fuel leaks that your bikes have experienced are on the Left Hand Side at the fuel pump housing.

Mine just spat out fuel on the RHS.
