Hi all,
planning a 60K service on the ol' girl and will include an alternator belt change. The manual recommends a BMW special tool. Does anyone know the whereabouts of one that I could loan/hire?
Does the club have one?
With the number of R1200's in the club, should we have one for members to utilise?
Cheers

yep !!! it's called a piece of plastic say from the side of an ice cream container bout 150/200 mm long and wide as bout 50 mm.
slide the plastic up tween pulley and belt on top pulley, bike on centre stand in 6th gear , bump the rear tire round, plastic lifts belt off pulley lever belt off . new belt on bottom pulley plastic on top with belt over push on as far as you can then soft hammer tap belt over top pulley bump rear wheel round pull out plastic bout 10 mins work or two beers.
If its as hot as the other day then you mite squeeze two more beers in and frolic in the pool............... then do the belt change on a cooler day
