Have ordered Metzeler Karoo 3s for my 1200 GS. Due in 3 x weeks. 8)

What are your recommended tyre pressures front and rear mainly 1 up , 1 up with luggage.....................................and 2 up if that's ever likely to happen please?

Swampy

I would say 2.3 bar front and 2.55 bar rear.

Any higher at your loading and you risk premature wear to the large centre knob that is a feature of the Karoo 3.

I know you are saying what is that in psi.

1 bar = 14.5037738 pounds per square inch

So front 33.36psi and rear 37.00 psi

Swampy I have to ask....
Given you are a self confessed black top only rider, why would you be ordering Karoo 3 tyres for your GS?.
Are your planning to join Nev on the ride to almost DQB?

I would have thought Tourances were more your style
They would be smoother, quieter and longer lasting.

Come with us as far as Mullewa on Sat 17th August and get yourself a room there (or follow us to the first night campsite (whereever that is)). Then return to Perth solo on any roads you like. All the unsealed roads we will take to Mullewa are all good, well maintained roads.

Swampy you really haven't answered Jono's question, these tyres are for dirt riders and Touraces would be the sensible tyre for your non dirt riding attitude to GS expeditions. Touraces would give you longer tyre wear and definitely a smoother ride. Doris has complained continually about the rougher ride since I put Heidenu tyres on my bike. You can ride with 2.2 and 2.8 pressures in your tyres which amounts to less fuel used with the Touraces. If you change your mind about fitting them I may take them off you (at a discounted second hand price of course )

An easy way to calculate which will give you a 'close enough conversion' is: 2.3 Bar = 230kpa. Divide by 7 = close enough 33psi.
