While your at it DR jockeys, the cam chain tensioner gasket can let go too, it can dump a fair bit of oil pretty quickly (speaking from experience), its not uncommon. The good news is its a quick fix, they probably didn't fit them properly at the factory.
Seems like even DR's break down eh Jamie!!

I must be having separation issues. I keep reading DR stuff.

Anyway...

DR's are notorious for popping a countershaft seal and dumping the engine oil relatively quickly. It happened to me not long after my first oil change, luckily not far from home. At a guess, it spewed out half the engine oil in approx 100kms. Some say the cause is often linked to overfilling the engine oil, even if its only by a tiny amount.

Apparently Suzuki sell a countershaft sprocket seal retaining plate for approx $20. At that price its absolutely the best preventative $20 you'll spend on the mighty DR.

Everyone loves a pic, so here's one shamelessly lifted from DRRiders...

$26 at Vince Strang in Vic. A similar price at your local Suzuki dealer too.

Yup Davey, we gotta keep these DR's rolling.

Where exactly is this seal. Can't seem to see the bit in question looking at the photo and my bike  does something have to be removed to get to it first?

That shiny new bit in the photo is the part I was talking about - its a retaining plate. That's the countershaft poking out thru the retaining plate. The seal is behind the retaining plate.
