Second battery on exPolice RT

Hi all, have finally got around to getting my main engine start battery recharged and I am wondering whether I should do the same with the auxiliary battery? In fact, I am wondering if I can remove this altogether to save some weight and put it on the trickle charger as a reserve battery. Thought I check before I remove it as it seems like quite a complicated job. Thanks, Ed
