April Tuning Day

Post by geoffcnc »

The April Tuning day is on April 19th. At this stage, until otherwise notified, it is on at Bill Emery's place at 3 Lodwick St Willagee 6156(08) 9314 6342.

There is one important activity that was instigated by Mike Henderson (who is chickening out and going away then) involving diagnostic tools for more recent (ie fuel injected, computer etc) bikes.

The BMWMCCWA has invested in various club tools over the years, and it was decided to see what the GS-911 diagnostic tool could achieve for those with recent bikes. With it more difficult to get good servicing on bikes over 5 years or so old, we discussed at Committee level the importance of some self-education in these areas. Fixing basic faults can save a lot of angst when on club rides and when stuff happens, or doesn't happen as the case may be.

To kick it off, I have personally purchased one of the GS-911 tools, with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, so that we as a club can evaluate whether the club should also make the investment (or acquire the tool I purchased). It is with Fedex as we speak, and I am hoping I have a chance to play with it before the tuning day so that it is not the dumb leading the dumb. Visit http://www.hex.co.za/gs911/index.html to see what we are talking about. I have also acquired the DVD's for the R1100/1150 and the R1200 series bikes for anyone to have a look at, while I had a package coming. I have no interest in the R1200 at this stage, so that DVD is for sale at the price I paid.

Further, having just bought the '03 R1150GS Adventure I am in tinker mode. I have been told to carry spare plastic injector couplings in case they break if/when the tank gets removed. I managed to find some brass identical items, same thing, different material, and also a local source for the plastic ones. These will also be on display at the tuning day. I'm not selling this stuff, but perhaps we can arrange anyone interested to do a bulk buy to get the price down. If you don't have spares, you should pay attention to the demos.

I also may do some spline greasing, so anyone else needing to do the same or find out how, come look-see.

So, getting into more recent model stuff at the tuning days. Any other contributions welcome.

Dear Secretary,
I would like to seek permission to present a product to your members
at your next meeting, which I understand is on April 14th.
This has come about from my exhibition at the Caravan and Camping show
where one of your members saw the product demonstrated and suggested
the presentation to the members. It was on the books to do anyway but
his interest also was a driver for this e-mail
The product is a Tyre Extender and Sealer. Very valuable for us bike riders.
Incidently I ride a BMW K1200LT and feel much safer with this product..
I would also like to arrange a time for your members to apply to their
vehicle perhaps on the Saturday following the meeting at my home
location.

Please advise if it would be acceptable to have perhaps 15-20 minutes
at the meeting to talk about the product and demonstarate.

Regards
Keith Logan

Dear Members,

The committee decided that the monthly meetings agenda has been filled, hence scheduled this demo for this tuning day.

Please circulate events scheduled to those who may not be registered to this forum.

Thanks.
