Any one had any experince of fuel leaking from K1200s.
I used a tank of fuel between Norseman and Balladonia on the way to Border Run.
I turned around and headed back to Perth after spending a couple of hours trying to find the exact problem. I was not able to get at the fuel line and injectors under the airbox at Balladonia with out risking a long hitch ride back to Perth if I could not get he bike back together.
The leaking fuel mostly came out the rigth side of the bike in a stream down the frame and in droplets in the airflow.
Bike still ran alright but used alot of fuel, last tank only lasted 130KM.

Re: Fuel Leaks on K1200S
The fuel leak came from the fuel line quick release coupling at the fuel tank. This is a nylon fitting and it appears is fitted to quite a few BMW motor bikes. On some models the fitting is installed in the fuel line to the tank rahter than right at the tank.
The fitting cracked on the male coupler in the retaining grove of the fitting.
An after market nickel plated brass fitting can be installed in its palce.
It is a non genuine part but has been used by a number of people successfully to replace the nylon part.

Guess what? A few guys carry spares of these, myself included. Had you been able to find the problem on the road, may not have stopped the border run for you. Good you found it, but even better that you didn't blow yourself up on the way home.
