Does anyone know where I can get a high quality throttle cable made in Perth?
I am getting close to finishing repairing my R4 and because of the unusual design of the throttle slide, I need a cable that has as little friction as possible.

Perth? No.
You could try Venhill in the UK
https://www.venhill.co.uk/. I can recommend their "Featherlight" range of cables - still using one on the Gas Gas throttle. Also fitted them to the R100 and the K1100 and anything else that needed a new cable.

Thanks Chris
Decided to try an upmarket cycle shop, i will fit it today and see what happens, unfortunately it is not like the normal cables which are easily fitted, this one needs the carby slide, spring etc to be fitted before swaging

Hi Bowe in the past when we were young and rode BSAs and Truimphs carrying spare cables was a must. Went down to the locale bike place tonight that sells everything and you can still buy Bowden cable kits. UC2 throttle cable $12. Comes with cable and some nipples cut it to length put the nipple on that fits splay cable end in nipple and solder.hope this helps

FWIW - Everyday (soft) solder is not adequate for this task - lead solder or as I know it 'Plumbers solder' is generally suitable, although consideration should be given to the type of solder used depending on the material the inner cable is made of - ie: high tensile steel, stainless steel......
